Abstract
Purpose: To analyse the results of bone impaction grafting in osteonecrosis of femoral head.

Materials and Methods: 18 cases (18 patients) of osteonecrosis of femoral head were classified as etiology, Ficat stage, size and location of the lesion. Each patient was treated with bone impaction grafting and the results were evaluated clinically and radiolologically. The mean follow up period was 36 (11~97) months.

Results: Clinical progression was seen in 7 cases (38.9%). All of lateral lesion progressed, and 9 cases (82%) of 11 small-sized lesion did not progress any more.

Conclusion: The surgical results were worse if the lesion located laterally and if the size of lesion was large.
